Big man of the North Bay

Proving that art can prove hugely popular, Ray Lonsdale's giant sculpture 'Freddie Gilroy and the Belsen Stragglers', a tribute to old soldiers, has been drawing crowds to Scarborough North Bay since it was installed at the end of last week.
The piece is brilliantly eye-catching yet simple, impressive yet in scale with it's setting.

The sculpture is in place until the 10th December, but I hope this is the first of many artworks on Royal Albert Drive, as it makes such a fine place for a 'gallery'.
