Stamp Machine

Remember these, usually in the Post Office window.

When I was young you bought all your stamps at the Post Office, and I don't remember it costing all that much. You put your 1/- or sixpence maybe thrupenny bit in and out popped a single stamp.

Nowadays it is so expensive to post letters and there are so many rules if you make a mistake in the size or shape of the envelope, then the recipient is charged an extra pound or the letters get left in the PO for three months before being returned to sender.

I do enjoy getting a letter but these days it is all bills and bumf.
