BANDY
The NZ Banded Dotterel are found at this time of year around river beds, where they breed in open nests amongst the stones - the eggs are so well camoflaged they are very hard to locate. I located this one quite be chance. They usually lead you off in a different direction going PEEP PEEP but this little cock bird was quite determined to return to his nest after telling me he was the boss. I took pictures of him on two days and Hope to Backblip yesterdays' - it was a very nice encounter. The eggs can be seen clearly here but its only because the bird is on the nest - even though I knew where they were I had trouble finding them
