....shake ya body like a belly dancer.....

Up and out early again, breakfast for the Russians to prepare....only slightly different today....they only wanted fruit and fruit juice.

They had prepared a show for our pupils. When I was in Siberia in 2009, both Russian schools put on these shows, one on Valentines day and one on the day of my birthday (Feb 16th), so I had an idea what to expect...but none or our kids and most of our staff didn't. The show opened with a powerpoint display about Russia, which interspersed the performances, and then traditional Russian dance in costume.

Next came Alex and Roma reprising their dance "Two Grooms" from Monday evening, and then the girls danced Golden Rye, in beautiful gold costumes with an ear of rye motif and Roma and Alex went amongst our pupils with baskets of rye pretzels for them to try.

The State College cheerleaders were up next, followed by an amazing female gymnast who contorted herself into all sorts of handstands and poses in a black costume with a flame motif.

Four of the girls returned in floaty pink outfits to perform a modern ballet type dance and then the gymnast returned with Hula-hoops, she span one, then two, three, four, five and then six hoops, which she then interlocked and formed into a ball! She eventually ended up spinning 18 hoops!!!!

Next came the young lady in the blip performing an "Oriental Dance". When she first appeared, spinning around, the gold 'wings' formed a tower around her and she mainly kept her back to the audience or kept spinning, when she finally turned and opened the 'wings' there was a second's silence....and then the sound of 40-50 sixteen year old boys sighing! She performed a belly dance and left the stage to riotous applause.

Next came a surprise for Lisa, a traditional Scottish dance and finally a modern dance highlighting the links between the two schools/countries with costumes of mainly red, white and blue to represent both National flags.

The pupils from Loreto ended the show with a gospel song.

I looked at my watch...90 minutes had flown past!

I looked at my camera 168 shots had also flown past!

There were so many I could have blipped, especially an action shot of the Hula-hoop spinning, or the golden rye costumes, but really this had to be the one.

Dinner tonight was early....5.15...as all the Russians were exhausted after a late night shopping spree last night and a 5.30 start this morning....so enchiladas, followed by apple pie and ice cream and I was home by 6.50.

Breakfast tomorrow, but we (the Russian adults and a select few of us) are dining out tomorrow night, so the vodka may well flow, and then the big day on Friday...the show in the evening, the after show party and probably gifts from and to our Russian friends. Saturday they're off to Blackpool and early Sunday morning they fly back to Mockba, they'll probably be there by the time I go fishing! Oh how I wish I could visit them in Omsk again....soon.

Das vidanya moy padruga.
