Mask Detail

This was one of several stunning masks on display at the offices of Radio Kilimanjaro in Govan, Glasgow. I was there at a workshop about "Getting your Voice Heard in the Media" - not only was it an excellent workshop, but the venue was great and the food! We had an amazing lunch cooked by the wife of one of the RKTV team - the most fantastic African food - EVER!!

You should check out their website, it's a great community radio station working hard to raise the profile of the African community in Glasgow, Scotland and the UK!

And the masks have been in Glasgow for 50 years, brought over by someone's mum when she first travelled from Africa to Scotland in the 1960's. Apparently lots of people find them frightening - I think they're beautiful!
