War time memories
Isn't it strange what you find when you look through your parent's stuff.
I found these wartime memories in an old wallet - along with the receipt for my Mum's wedding ring (my Dad would have commented on keeping both wars' memories together - but only when Mum was out of earshot!)
The leaflet was one he liberated from a bundle he was loading onto a bomber (he was an armourer) and 2 of the photos are of aircraft he worked on.
The bottom image is from after he was injured and managed to get out for a day from the hospital. Apparently on one occaision they couldn't get anyone witha full set of limbs to drive - but it was OK - one person with a right leg drove and the person in the passengers seat had one leg as well so he did the clutch and gearstick. Sometimes they varied it - armless person driving and legless person (with arms) doing the arm stuff from the passengers seat!!
And they say the roads are dangerous today!!
