Plenty valves
The pumping station of units EC 3-7.
These actuators open and close the sliding valves of the thermoshocksystem of the units.
Warm coolingwater coming from the outlet of the unit(s) can flow back to the coolingwaterintake and in that way we can heat up the coolingwater up to 43°C (109F).
This is done to kill mussels and Japanese oysters which deposit in the coolingwatersystem and cause clogging of pipes.
Normally we can open and close these valves from the controlroom but sometimes we operate them on the actuator itself.
A handwheel is fitted to operate the valve when there is lack of powersupply or when we actuator just does not work.
The handwheel may not turn when it is operated electrically but sometimes it does....
Hope you will feel better soon Ricardo!
