Do you think the next evolutionary step will be..
...COMMON SENSE OR INTELLIGENCE?
Anybody happen to know to know just how legal these white lines are? He happens to be blocking his own drive. So that's O.K.
But doesn't it strike anybody as just a WEE bit odd that you are NOW, apparently, allowed to park ANYWHWHERE which does not sport double yellow lines?
If you happen to travel the ''back'' side of Ullswater you'll find the road to be, mostly, fit for 2 motorcycles to pass each other easily. Two cars need to be either very slim or very careful AND YET they have found it necessary to paint yellow lines for practically the entire length of the lake.
Even in town it seems your drive entrance is no longer sacrosanct without the all pervading white line.
Not long ago, half a line of cars was ''done'' because they had parked too close to a corner from main road to housing estate: just to avoid a parking fee. Cost 'em 30 quid.
Unless the Highway Code has altered beyond all recognition in the last few decades I don't think it's become legal to park within 14yards (metres?) of a junction. Tell that to the good buggers burgers of Penrith and they'd laugh at you.
I, once, heard a brilliant idea I just can't see being implemented....
Reverse the system
You cannot, legally, park anywhere, on any road unless
A) You are outside your own property.
or
B) There are Yellow lines.
The councils of the land would probably save millions on paint, time taken to apply paint, time taken to re-apply paint, maybe even wages.
