Devious Window Mimicry
In keeping with day 2 of my windows being replaced, I though I'd show you windows created by nature.
This plant is Sarracenia x psittacina The Parrot Pitcher.
Its a carnivorous plant which entices pray with sticky sweet nectar around its rim and down inside the throat.
The insect is not only inebriated by this 'reward' but the little white transparent cluster of cells act like window to the insect which feels comfortable feeding in an enclosed space.
Its only when the inebriated insect tries to fly upwards, it then bashes itself on the windows, thus dropping down into a watery death and decomposes and is slowly absorbed by the plant.
Cool or what.!
