Mullen Tincture a la Randi
About a month ago, Randi pulled a mullen plant from a neighbor's front yard. She's been studying herbs and has been gathering them bit by bit for some time. The mullen plant is huge. It stood at about my height (just under five feet) and is now hanging upside down in our house.
Mullen's good for a lot of stuff, including respiratory problems and, lucky for me, ear aches. Today, I came home with an bad one, and Randi used some of the leaves to make a tincture, first boiling them down, then straining them thoroughly, and finally bottling the liquid with a bit of alcohol. Hence today's photo.
