Woodhouse Community Centre on a building break

This is a picture of Woodhouse Community Centre, Leeds.

Oblong, a community development organisation, have taken possession of the building from Leeds City Council and have received a grant to refurbish it. Part way through the building the funders - based in London - have stopped payments due to the builders while they discuss the security of their investment. The advisors in this process are business people and it has become clear just how much the success of voluntary and public activity is in fact controlled by the decisions of business.

The good news is that this is seen as a valuable community investment and work should be completed very soon (we trust).
