Junior Echium plants

Despite the weather being overcast and grey the whole day, my garden has two very healthy, verdant Echium plants that were seeds in spring. In their second year they can grow to about 10 feet and have the most fantastic lavender coloured flowers.
Only problem is, if it's another cold winter (like the last two) they won't survive and we'll have another summer without their beautiful flowers.
