Star of the Day at Last!

Charlotte was star of the day at school this morning. Every day a child is picked from the class to receive this honour! Charlotte was getting quite upset that she wasn't being picked. She is very quiet in class and very well behaved, so couldn't understand that some of the other children had been picked two or three times.

This is where Louis and Nick, her brothers stepped in. "Charlotte" said Louis with authority "it is always the naughty children who are star of the day". This is where I stepped in to say this was not true! "It is true, mum", he added with absolute conviction, " when I was in year 1 the naughtiest boy in the class was given a special chair to sit on at carpet time if he did one good thing that day. It was so unfair!" Nick then joins in agreeing totally with his brother about the naughtiest children getting all the attention!

Well, it's a tricky one isn't it? You can totally understand and appreciate the use of positive reinforcement in the classroom. It is also hard to explain my sons' comments to my 4 year old daughter who so desperately wants to be the Star of the Day. Anyway, thank goodness the day has come!! I only hope she didn't pass on her brothers' comments to her teacher. Or do I?!
