sliver of heaven
we recce'd this place on our first day, but it was raining so we didn't spend too much time, after figuring out there was enough to come back another day - more than enough, as eggleston hall gardens has both garden to wander round (not big, but pretty) and a large area of nursery. not sure they were really used to people filling two trolleyloads of plants - we spent a small fortune but they didn't even knock off the odd couple of quid, whereas most places happily knock off a bit when you spend the thick end of £100. we have good souvenirs...
came home today, but via allendale and the scenic route - cracking pub lunch in allendale, too. low-key it might be as a holiday, but there were definite highlights and muchos relaxation all the same.
PS i do like their choice of sculpture, don't you? :-)
