Seen on a store window: "Boredom comes to those who wait."
So true! Did an all-daylight wandering tour of Stavanger today, and the city has really grown on me. What it lacks in planning or shine it makes up for in just being a working and living city. So what if some of the taller buildings in town could charitably be called 'poorly done'? So what if the weather is cloudy most of the year? The old town is a pleasure to explore, the main commercial district is lively and engaging, and the waterfront with the Geopark and Oil Museum is well put together, even more so than Bergen, I think.
I'm not about to give up Oslo anytime soon, but I've got to give credit to Stavanger, this feels like a wonderful small city to live in.
Here's a shot across the harbor of these two red buildings, which get photographed a lot because the rest of the buildings on the waterfront are pretty uninspiring. I got a lot of good photos today, choosing was hard, but I like this one because it's simple and pretty. Hoping against hope for a good sky tomorrow though, I have a bunch of shots I'd love to take without dark grey seeping into every corner.
