Masaaki Toma made history when he became the first non-British referee to take charge of an FA Cup fixture. The Japanese official handled the first round tie between Brentford and Basingstoke on Saturday as part of a referee exchange programme.

So I've seen a 0-2, 0-4, 0-0, 0-1 and now a 1-0 this season but I've still not seen a Brentford goal. How come? We missed the first half, thinking it was a 3pm kick-off. We got in at half time for half price, but Brentford had scored in the first half after 9 minutes and the second half was fairly even, with Basingstoke having the better chances. Maybe next match...
