Set in stone

I had a brief walk this morning in search of blippable subject matter and came home with a range of pretty so-so shots.

This one, which was an almost throwaway snap at the end of the walk, was probably the best of the bunch.

There's a lot of sandstone in this area and over the years it's proved irresistible to people intent on making their mark by carving their initials, their declarations of undying love and their rather graphic representations of human anatomy... This seemed a little bit different.

I like the way the light makes it look as though it's been created with twigs or matchsticks rather than carved into the stone.
