Wedding Anniversary!

The title says it all really - 12 years ago today we got married here. We haven't been back since and as it fell on a Saturday and was such a nice day (nicer than this photo suggests), we decided we would go back to Castell Coch and then out for a meal.

A castle may seem very romantic, but I assure you things are not always as they seem! We never thought we would get married. I never got a proposal, just a discussion following a TV programme about brain death (yes really), that maybe it would make sense legally!

So we decided to get married, but we were never engaged as such. No ring or anything (we needed a new fridge after all)! ;-)

So the plan was to nip out in our lunch break from work to the Register Office and just get it done....but the family protested so then it was still a simple Register Office ceremony but with family there.

But then....I found out the Register Office was due to move into the building I actually worked in so as I didn't much fancy getting married at work (!) we looked for somewhere else! Hotels all seemed expensive and far too big for our tiny gathering, then someone suggested this place....

It really appealed to me. So I looked into it......it was about the right size and surprisingly cheap so....that's how my 'never was going to be romantic' wedding ended up in a very romantic castle :)

The moral of this story is....never give up on romance - you never know when it might somehow find its way into your life :)
