20 Miler No 1
Had my first outing today with the Edinburgh 20-milers. According to their blog, they favour gentle gradients, but unfortunately nobody had explained that to the contours that make up south Edinburgh and Midlothian; it was bloody hilly. Still, it was an interesting outing and included a mile or so along a cycle path laid on the route of the old Waverley rail line. If all goes to plan, that line will be re-opened from Edinburgh to Galashiels in a couple of years time, so I guess the cycle path's days are numbered.
24 miles by the time I got home, on a gloriously sunny but cool day.
This was taken from the Glenesk Viaduct, high above the River Esk and looking towards the Dalkeith cemetry.
