On Silent Wings

The great horned owl approaches silent and fast, like a stealth bomber. Wow, oh, wow.

What a beauty. What a predator. The haunting intensity of the yellow eyes, the mock-tufted ears pulled back for flight as she maneuvers around an ocotillo.

This is a moment.

Taken at Arizona Desert Museum- which is like a wildlife refuge with a raptor free flight. So much fun, but this is only the second time over the years I nabbed such an action shot.
