The Silence

Remembrance Day.

There are few things more moving than a lament played by a lone piper.

Absent family and friends. Not professional soldiers doing a job, but young lads called up to lay their lives on the line for their country and their neighbours.

But tomorrow the fighting will continue. We live in an enlightened, modern world. Everything changes. Everything stays the same.

Spare a thought for those who have lost loved ones in war, on all sides, or who's lives and livelihoods have been turned upside down by conflict. Spare a thought for those who have the same problems, though war is not the cause. Spare a thought today, but also spare a thought tomorrow. And each day hence.

Beware the silence.
