Take 2

Still on the cowboy theme.

Been doing The Highwayman in literacy for the last couple of weeks (I LOVE the poem) and it is time for the class to have a go at writing some narrative poetry themselves. I was going to get them to just write an extra verse at some point, but this morning I had the idea of doing an alternative version: western style!

If you know the poem, you can see there are some nice parallels with the two settings. The children got quite excited as we went through what could be done, and a few have taken it further with some great ideas (Beth the Sheriff's daughter was my personal favourite).

Funny how things in life cross over sometimes. Looking forward to seeing the results.
