La Barantine

Bruntsfield is an amazing area of Edinburgh to work in - well over 25 coffee places in one long street - and they all seem to keep busy. Here is one of the latest additions. It's a very traditional French Patisserie & Boulangerie commited to offer gustatory pleasure.

It has been started by a group of young French friends - and when you go in the default language is French - maybe a bit twee but actually quite fun. There is table service! And you only pay on l'addition being presented on the way out!

Very civilised. The bread is wonderful!

No one seems sure what la Barantine means. It certainly is the name of an aristocratic family, also some dwelling places in France, also an asteroid.
