Cooling down in the summer heat

This young raccoon likes to come and sit on the top step in the pool and put his face in the water and then splash around a bit each day. I wish I could catch a photo of that, but at least I got him as he walked around his watering hole.

We don't go into our pool since the hurricanes three years ago when we lost the screened enclosure for the umpteenth time in a couple of years of storms, and since the crashing debris and trees kinda mucked things up. (Yes, we'll get around to fixing it all...but it is hurricane season again, so why not wait? After all why do today what you can put off until tomorrow?)

Daniel's mouse/rat whatever seems to be doing alright. Daniel spends a good part of the day and night inspecting the critter's hiding place. He is drinking a lot of liquid and likes the same natural biscuits the raccoon does. The healthy ones I bought for Patches that he absolutely won't eat.

I hate to toss anything out, so it is good that they are getting some use anyway.
