Sweet Cheetah, Yates

He is such a sweetie pie, but hey, he did not really approve of what he saw inside the school library today! The pupils were waiting in anticipation for Yates to enter the room in order for them to touch him! They were quiet as mice in there, but he just peeped into the room on several occasions, made a prompt u-turn every time, and then wandered under the trees outside, on the school playgrounds, on a leash, of course! He is still very young and not used to his role as 'ambassador' for wildlife yet! Rita, his handler, asked the principal's permission to bring him more often, in order to assist with his training!

Rita will bring another, trained one, tomorrow, when it is the Primary School learners' turn to be treated to a show by a cheetah! She invited the High School Students to join in again though, in order to give them all a turn to touch and stroke him!

The Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre does fantastic work for nature conservation, for 40 years already! I am really looking forward to their visit to the school tomorrow again!
