Hair and makeup

I photographed Ian Marber, The Food Doctor this afternoon for the cover of his new book.

It would have been perfect had the studio not been on the fourth floor without a lift and no air conditioning. Temperatures reached the late twenties today.

In a gap between set-ups I took a snap of the makeup artist's tool kit, which on closer inspection included an implement I'm more familiar with though grouting walls. If you take a close look at the bottom of the picture you'll see what I mean.

So there may be truth in the expression 'laying on makeup with a trowel'. Fortunately Ian didn't need it, only some loose powder to dull the shine on a warm afternoon.
