Lunchtime on the Mekong

Arrived in the Mekong Delta area today and enjoyed an afternoon sailing on the Mekong River, making a number of stops along the way.....

We got off to see where they make local sweets...mmm...lovely coconut toffee and were also treated to a taste of banana wine and snake wine...it was my favourite (just like a malt whisky).

A visit to a nursery where they grow all the fruit resulted in us being stranded while a tropical storm got underway, but they rustled up a cup of tea, lovely platter of fruit and treated us to a bit of local music until the rain eased a bit.

And not forgetting the stop for lunch..'elephant ear fish'....just picked it off with your chopsticks and rolled it in rice paper.. it was lovely (although the way it kept eyeballing you while you ate was a bit disconcerting).
