Sailing off on Gossamer Wings....

Ah yes, I suppose it is a stretch to think of milkweed seeds floating off as looking like "gossamer wings", but upon closer inspection, they are very delicate and lovely!

Late this afternoon as the sun was heading over the hill across from us, I noticed the hairs on the milkweed glistening in the sunlight. I thought back to last year when I first discovered the beauty of these "weeds".

One of my friends used to raise Monarch Butterflies, and she told me the only medium that Monarchs lay eggs on is the milkweed. It became like a treasured flower....I hollered as son whacked away at the weeds behind the house...."Don't cut down the milkweed!" Thus, they stood...

And so, this afternoon, I had to scurry to get the camera and rush outside....
