Cheng Yu

I was asked to take some photographs for a preview of The China Project: Emma Smith and the Silk String Quartet at the Edinburgh Chinese School.

I've heard these instruments, mostly as background muzak to costume dramas on Hong Kong TV. I've also seen them played by enthusiastic amateurs. But this was the first time I've seen professional musicians play and they were very, very good. Unfortunately, my wife and I couldn't make it to their show tonight.
