Epic day
I went on a long bike ride today - the weather started off a little grey but within 15 minutes was scorchio! Blue sky and sunshine ... this is Scotland ... right?
I went into Lochinver and north taking the costal route past Clachtoll, Stoer, Clashnessie to Drumbeg, this route is regarded by many as the most scenic roadin the UK, it didn't disappoint! From Drumbeg I went east to Kylesku across the bridge, stopped for a phot and a power bar and back up the 5km climb through Newton and on to Inchnadamph. The scenery was spectacular, the weather still beautiful, the hills killing my feeble southern legs! I had a close encounter with a deer and saw the near shore salmon farms and coutless hills.
At the start of the ride I was stopping to take pics but this got rather tedious as I was stopping every 5 minutes so I statred taking shots from the handle bar!! I was rather pleased with this one.
I went out through Inchnadamph about 5 miles, turned round and rode the main road back to Lochinver and then on to Inverkirkaig. I got through 2 power bars, 3 energy gels and a banana ... I still got the hunger. In total 60 miles, some serious red tan lines and 3100 calories.
Later in the afternoon we went to the beach and Fin had another swim in the cold but beautifully blue sea!
