Rhodo Madness

Every year in Blackheath we experience groundhog day, otherwise known as The Rhododendron Festival.

It's been going for nearly sixty years and although we may deride it, we locals are secretly very fond of it.
Indeed, it has changed little since the fifties, tho there are fewer crepe paper flowers.

Tonight there was a roof bolting competition with participants from local mines and I took a few good photos that I thought would be blippable, but as I was leaving ran into Robin up a ladder, and can't really go past that.
As the local shops have a window competition and as Robin has a reputation for dressing windows, amongst other things, he had been employed by a couple of shops to decorate their windows.  It's getting late, but he's doggedly carrying on.

Tomorrow's the big parade and the coal shovelling, so expect more action shots from the Blackheath blippers.
