Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

The Holiday Season Enters

I arrived home from work and Mr. Fun brought in the day's mail. Catalogs, several, were in the pile. They are the evidence that the shopping season has arrived.

So I immediately did my "oooohs and aaaaahs" and folded the corners down on several pages to fool myself into believing I'd made that purchase. Actually I was appeasing my desire to spend, or maybe it was a quick vanishing desire to go out to a gala holiday dinner party all dolled-up.

Honestly, I could not wear either one of these dresses. The showcase days for my arms and legs are long gone!

Who am I kidding anyway (myself); I'd rather stay home wearing snuggly comfort clothing with the fire roaring while sipping something and watching an interesting movie or fabulous holiday concert with Mr. Fun and not have to share the highway with holiday traffic and not give-up hard earned bucks when entertainment, joy, and fun can be had right here at home.

Okay -- I earn a point for not giving in -- the urge, though, to purchase something fancy and fun from the holiday catalog was quite strong. I'm hoping to win over "the urge" with every catalog that arrives in our mailbox this season. It's me against the Madison Avenue marketers who are planning to fill my mailbox with enticing tidbits.

Good night from Southern California (with the prediction of high winds).
