Arthur and Margaret's Caravan

I managed to make time to head out on the East Wall again. I wanted to bring some prints from my last visit to give Arthur and Margaret, but the Fuji shop didn't have them ready yet.

Summery day, but overhung by louring swatches of charcol grey, threatening rain.

Margaret was in, and there were four of their fourteen children present, plus one grandchild, all girls, ranging in age from toddler to young adult. Rachel, the little girl who was in the last portrait, wasn't around. I didn't think Arthur was either, till he turned up in an archair by the side of the road, as if he'd just been beamed down from the top of the Pigeon House chimneys (linked).

This visit was different, more interactive, more open I think. They were all welcoming, some more shy than others, but most wanted to be photographed, or seemed to anyway. The laughter bug affected everyone but the grandchild and Margaret, who preferred smiling. The second youngest (Rosie?), in the foreground of the blip, was a delight, a real performer. I let the girls throw their poses and tried to go with the flow, to follow the movements and shapes and hope something fell together, rather than trying to pose or manipulate them. I am really warming to this family. I hope they like the pictures.
