Eeeeeeeely

I had to go to the library today to photocopy some documents. This Eel, made out of willow is hanging in the entrance to the library.

Ely is very proud of its connection with eels and it is thought that the name Ely is derived from the Isle of Eels when Ely was surrounded by water and marshland. There is also an annual Eel Day to celebrate the city's name.
