Blue Wren

(Superb Fairy-Wren - Malurus cyaneus) These pretty little birds are quite common at this time of year. It's breeding season, so the boys have their bright blue and black on. They like to pose in a picturesque manner on fence posts and the like, but they're very quick. This one was determined to fly through my window, despite the fact that the glass isn't exactly clean (so he must have been able to see it...). He made many attempts - going back each time to the log behind him to consider the situation. I took heaps of shots of him looking artistic on the log, but the light was too bright and the shadows too strong. Then he saw me and came down to the window sill to give me the eye.
I really must clean the windows...
