I did much less work than I should have done before heading over to Carl's place to watch a recording of the first-ever Indian Grand Prix an to hopefully soak up some Hallowe'en atmosphere. He had super-yummy brunch ready and waiting, after which we settled down to watch the race. The new track near Delhi looked terrific, and one section particularly was both visually attractive and popular with the drivers. The race itself wasn't up to much, apart from yet another incident between Lewis Hamilton and Filipe Massa (we considered it a racing incident and were surprised when the stewards penalised Massa with a drive-through). Sebastian Vettel won with ease.

Afterwards, we decided to try out the Bay restaurant, upstairs in Walters pub. We were delighted when the good reports we'd heard about it turned out to be accurate. We brought the last of our bottle of wine downstairs to the bar, and then didn't feel up to going on anywhere else, so only only exposure to Hallowe'en atmosphere (apart from the pretty pathetic effort of one of Walters barmen) was the film we watched in Carl's Kino. Let Me In is an American remake of Let The Right One In, the Swedish original which Carl had already seen and which he (and most others, apparently) considers far superior.

I found some of the acting in the American version pretty dire (the investigating police officer, especially), but the atmosphere was frighteningly intense, and the overall experience was a near-perfect choice for Hallowe'en Eve.

Oh, the blip? That's just a sign I noticed on a (gas guzzler) car parked across the road from Carl's house.
