From the other side of the pond.
Not too much time for bliping today. The clock change always knocks me off time wise, but today it really has been something else. Went into Perth to get some bits and pieces done and by the time we got back home it was beginning to get dark. Now I'm sitting some 3 hours later yawning and wondering when I can go to bed. It's only 7.30!
Anyway, have been watching the American Football with the man. Clearly and despite a trip to London to see the Saints play a few years back, it's been quite a while since I paid very much attention to anything.
While I'm not really a died in the wool fan of any particular team, the Saints (New Orleans) and the Chargers (San Diego) are my favourites. Not only do they belong to cities that I am very fond of, they don't challenge my brain in the same way that some of the others do.
For example, about twenty years ago when I was learning about field goals, incomplete passes and timeouts I knew that there were two teams in Los Angeles, the Raiders and the Rams. Nowadays there are no teams in the city of the Angels. The Raiders and now in Oakland and the Rams are in St Louis. Wait a minute though... surely the Cardinals are from St Louis? Nope. They are now in Arizona.
Then there's the original Cleveland Browns. They're not in Cleveland anymore. They moved to Baltimore to become the Baltimore Ravens. Then, when the NFL expanded Cleveland got another franchise for a team and guess what they called them? Yup, they named them the Cleveland Browns.
On top of that, when the Browns moved to Baltimore to become the Ravens they replaced the Baltimore Colts. The Colts had moved to Indianapolis.
Then there's the owners. The guy that now owns the Cincinnati Bengals (one of the man's favourite teams) is the son of the owner of the original Cleveland Browns.
Confused yet? I am but I better go join him for the last quarter. I do so in the welcome knowledge that January, the Superbowl and the end of the season isn't SO far away! LOL!
PS There's a virtual jelly baby for anyone who can tel me what the connection between the image and the text is... and no, it's not that football players eat a lot. Think twenty years ago in the windy city.
