I am watching TV in the kitchen. Mrs jml is on the telephone - she has gone into the hall to get away from the sound of the TV.

Jess stares through the door. She knows the herd is incomplete. Why has she shut herself away from us? Why is she talking to herself? Why can't I have the door open?
