Not what I intended

Went out this morning with a kind of "executive toy" - a man on a rowing boat with a big counterweight underneath which pivots on a stand so you can set it going and as it rocks the man appears to row. Normally sits in our bathroom window ledge. As it swung I got a a set of 15 consecutive shots and meant to combine them in Photoshop to get one good image with a sequence of ghost images. Played around with layer blending modes and opacities but couldn't get a decent result. In the end I decided this was quite a pleasing effect which uses just two of the layers and throws almost all the background into black. I'm going to have a try with layer masks to see if that is a way of getting what I want. Simplest would probably be to start again in a darkened room and use a stroboscope or strobe flash.
