Crazy Whitebaiters

People go to extraordinary lengths to catch whitebait. All along the cliff side of the Taramakau are whitebait stands clinging to the walls. You can see the rope to the top that i think they lower the equipment to at the beginning of the season.
We watched as this guy put down a plank of wood to make his walkway to his nets.

At over $100 per KG the risks must be worth it.

I feel like having a whitebait pattie now.
