Question

Didn't really have a good blip today, but I wanted to ask a question. Now I'm well and truly obsessed with this photography malarky I'm planning on getting a good camera. I mostly use my mobile phone, sad I know but our digital camera is so old and only has a 16MB memory card and they don't sell memory cards for our digi camera anymore, like I said its old. I have very little knowledge of cameras and want something really good but still portable really, I've had a browse and the Canon G9 powershot looks good, could anyone tell me if this is a wise choice? Appreciate any advice. xx
