All Saints
La Toussaint (All Saints) is the time when the family tombs in Roujan's two cemeteries, the old one and the new, are decorated with flowers.
Traditionally, the flowers of choice are brightly coloured chrysanthemums which create glorious corridors of magenta, yellow and orange through the graveyard - decorous but jolly. These two teenagers are minding the shop for their dad at the cemetery gates.
There must be many foreigners in France who, like us, have suffered the ignominy of spotting these gorgeous globular blossoms in their local shop and thinking, "ooh, that'll be perfect to take to Francoise's dinner party tonight."
Mais non.
We live and learn.
