Going Away
Today was the "Going Away" Party for Matt. He's one of my good friends and my best friend's boyfriend. He is joining the Marines. He's leaving for Basic in a few days.
I'm really proud of him, but very sad at the same time. I don't want to see him hurt and I'm going to feel so sad for Joj his girlfriend once he leaves. I don't know much about basic training outside of the few stories Tim has told me.
Through the entire party I could just see how scared she was. Maybe scared isn't the right word...nervous maybe? She loves him so much and to think that she's is going to have to spend so much time without him after spending pretty much everyday with him? I wouldn't even know how to deal with that.
Jocelyn is one of the strongest people I know. She always puts on a brave face and it astounds me. I love this little girl with all my heart. She has been through the thick of it with me. We've grown up together. And while this summer was rough without her both of us were constantly working I know that no matter where we are in our lives, we can always just look to the other one for the support we need.
Ever found someone in your life that you are completely and utterly comfortable with? Joj is that for me. We have been friends for so many years and never once did we have a fight. Not many people can boast that.
Joj is someone I would definitely say I look up to. She is so strong, so smart, and she has such confidence. I love her like a sister and I would do anything for her. I grew so much in high school because I knew her and was her best friend. And even now, even though we're at different colleges, I know that I can always count on her and I hope she knows the same applies for her.
Life sucks. Why is it that we all start out so innocently like this little puppy here, with people taking care of us, shielding us from all the bad stuff. And then we grow up and we're through into a world were we need to make new friends, we need to find new ways to survive, and then that loving world turns into a dog-eat-dog world.
