The weekend is here - bring it on! Though, unfortunately it starts with a whole big pile of domesticity. Once that's out the way, then the fun can start :)

On the way home spotted these lovely leaves - I think autumn is fabulous - the colours are there just begging to be looked at!

I've been thinking about a quote I saw a few days ago:

If you want to be a better photographer, stand in front of more interesting stuff.
- Jim Richardson

At first I liked it, because, well yes, if you want to take better pictures, surely you want to be taking photographs of more interesting things. Then I got to thinking - that's not entirely true. One way would be to find more interesting things, but something that I've noticed, is that the constant act of blipping means I've seen more interesting things. Nothing's changed about my environment, but I have; I'm seeing more things that could be interesting (to me at least!) to photograph, and that process I think is what's making the difference. Even something mundane, in the right lighting, the right composition, can become something else - as I've seen so many times on blip.

So maybe my version would be 'If you want to be a better photographer, look harder.' Look harder, or look better - really see what's in front of you - something that I'm still failing at but hopefully improving on. Looking at other people's pictures just shows me what I wish I could do - and that urge to improve keeps me going. Ironic that I've posting about this when I've just posted a quick snap when rushing home I know, but it's something I've been thinking about for a while.

Can you tell I'm starting to think about my assignment write-up?
