Seeing for the first time

On our way to a drinker's establishment, Derek, Jeannie and I pull up to an intersection and are sitting at the red light. Derek notices a number of people with visual impairments waiting at the intersection to cross...

Derek (wondering outloud): so, why do you think all these blind people hang out at this corner?

Jeannie: um, look to your left.

Derek: (sees sign) oh. That would explain it.

While the timing of his question was impeccable, it made the scene all the more hilarious, especially since he has driven past this area numerous times.

But it also got me thinking....it is amazing what we pass by everyday without even noticing. How much of life is passing us by that we do not appreciate?
