<cahon>
So, today is the anniversary of..... no, enough of that!
Today is a very exciting day for another reason - a very early birthday present has been delivered: ta da!
I'm sure I don't need to tell you that it's a Cahon (sometimes spelt cajon, depending on your preference) - a box drum with a snare. You sit on it, and hit the front with your hands to make the sounds. Hit it in the middle and you get a deep resonant sound, hit it near the edge, with your fingers and you get a tippy-tappy sound (thanks in part to the snare inside). There's loads of simple ways to get different sounds out of it, which makes it a very versatile piece of kit.
[drum tech speak] This photo is the rear view, and if you peer closely you can see the snare wires running vertically inside, as well as a string of dead bells - again to add a shaky type sound. Nice. [/drum tech speak]
Mrs Morris decided that it didn't go with her newly re-decorated sitting room, and as I'd been coveting it for years, she decided I could have it - marvellous!
Now I just have to wait for my birthday before I can have a play... patience....
