Can't you make Halloween...
... a bit less... well... scary...
[finished version on my Kinda Horrigans journal]
Pretty simple editing with this - the main issue was really that I wanted bit more light on the pumpkin and Felix's hand. So, when processing the RAW file I boosted the vibrance, and increased the fill light slightly. Then, in Photoshop, after giving the image a slight crop, I duplicated the background layer and used Filter > Render > Lighting Effects and a largish omni spotlight. Used a layer mask on that layer to delete the effect from the lower right hand corner - it was making that part too dark - and then added a new layer on top set to 50% neutral grey fill and overlay blend mode. Used a white brush at about 10% opacity to brighten his hand above the pumpkin just a smidge more. Then flattened.
Finally, duplicated the background layer and sharpened - and again used a layer mask to delete the sharpening from his skin / the skin of the pumpkin. Flattened and saved.
Tip of the Day:
Not all of these photos are available anymore... but for a bit of Halloween inspiration, Halloween Photography Inspiration from last year is still worth a look!
