Owen Welsh 1792
I will try not to say too much about plumbers in general and a certain Polish one in particular. He is here again today. That makes 3 days in a row. Right now he is in the attic apparently pretty well rebuilding the entire heating system which I might add was working perfectly up to the moment he put his hand on it. The bill has now reached 500 Euro and looks like it's going even higher. He has been paid for his first days work and for a multitude of parts. I hope he doesn't think I am paying for the other two days.
My poor attic is in bits. I had a lot of stuff all stashed away neatly up there. All my woodworking and household tools. Years of photographs. Tons of old photo gear. It's all over the place. Will I ever get it sorted out again?
Anyway, I had to go into town to get him a supply of nails this morning so I sneaked into the park which used to be a graveyard attached to the old abbey. The gravestones were removed and relocated around the perimeter of the park years ago. This one as you might be able to see is dated 1792. I guess Owen Welsh must have been considered a very old man at the time. He reached the ripe old age of 68 when the average life expectancy was probably only in or around 50.
