Nid and Tom

It is so good visiting Nid's family, seeing where she grew up and what life looked like for her. Nid and Tom are students at the dorm where I live. They have been dating for 3 years and are planning on getting married after they graduate, which could be another couple of years. They've already made me promise to come to the wedding, even though there is no wedding planned yet.

I don't understand dating for so long. Earlier this week, I met a couple who had been dating for 10 years. 10 years?! But in Thailand the man is expected to pay the woman's family a substantial amount of money, so some couples must wait until that money can be gathered.
