Is There Life on Mars?

When the Viking Orbiter radioed back an image from the Cydonia region of Mars, scientists were amazed by a formation that strongly resembled a human or humanoid face staring straight up into the heavens, what was dubbed "the Face on Mars."

Despite NASA's downplay of the image and assurances that it was not "real," the formation's likeness to a human face was so uncanny that many people seriously wondered if there were a chance it could be real.

More recent images obtained with higher resolution demonstrate the uncanny resemblance of "the Face on Mars" with that of the Egyptian Sphinx.

The Mars Rover is scheduled to explore the site to determine if the "Face" and other nearby pointy structures represent remnants of an ancient Martian civilization, perhaps the same civilization that spawned the Earthside Egyptian civilization that built similar structures such as the Pyramid of Khufu and the Great Sphinx at Giza.
